What I've Learned...

If you haven't realized in High School, it's really important to realize you shouldn't care what others think of you. High School puts you in a scary place, people don't think about others, and people get insecure. It's good to know the conceded ones are the most un-liked, yet most known. They're going to be the ones who actually think high school was cool..... ha.
In a small town like this, people are always watching and talking, everyone knows everyone. It's so awkward. But why spend your time hoping and wishing for what could have happened. Learn who you are and be thankful for the great things.
Once you walk out those doors, none of your worries will matter. Many of your regrets and mistakes won't be remembered. Getting upset about the mistakes and flaws are going to be worthless when you're happy. Accept them and move on. Mistakes are made so you can choose to learn from them. Knowing who you are and what you're best at will get you where you most belong in the future.

One of the great things I've learned this semester, is realizing positive things when you're upset. The world is way too big to be upset over little things. Being happy will give you many benefits. And it may be contagious.

My Riff

It's true, life is short
As minutes go by, they don't stop
And for as much of our life, who wants to be angry for it? 
When you're upset, it's very hard to realize and let anger go, and that's why some people lose it
But in the end, realize what's important and matter the most
I guarantee you will be satisfied on your last day


There is so much ahead of us, everywhere we go we will always have something new surrounding us
If you discover that, you will discover yourself


If the dark and cold is bringing you down, just think out of your mind
That might just help a person
Because there will be more days and more opportunities
Being happy may be contagious


Life isn't here for nothing, you gotta live it.

Poems

I chose the poem, Sweet by Martin Williams, because I liked the vibe he is trying to rub off. Martin Williams did his time, and with that he has found the importance to see the good in what's around, even if you're stuck somewhere dark. He brings color to the black and white days. He doesn't let what can bring him down, bring him down.

The dopefiends have not made me scandalous
Nor the cops made me hateful
Nor the hateful made me heartless.

The food has not killed my appetite
Nor sexlessness killed my desire
Nor lifelessness killed my thirst.

They gave me no water for my garden,
Gave me sand for seeds,
And I grew flowers
And low fruit,
Enough to color the walls
And make stale rice
